SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE: Suspect arrested in Puerto Rico in double homicide case

A 73-year-old man has been arrested in Puerto Rico in connection with the deaths of a man and woman in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities announced Wednesday.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said investigators obtained an arrest warrant and located the suspect with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.

The case dates back to June 19, when deputies responded to a home in the 26100 block of Southwest 209th Avenue in the Redland area following a report of an unconscious woman.

Deputies found a 58-year-old woman and her 61-year-old partner on the ground outside the property. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed how the victims were killed or a possible motive.

The suspect remains in Puerto Rico while awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade County.
