WEST MIAMI: Undercover Probe at West Miami-Dade Shop Leads to Three Arrests in Fake Designer Goods and Drug Case

Law enforcement officers arrested three individuals following an undercover investigation into a storefront located along Northwest Seventh Street. Investigators identified the business as The Legend Gang Store, where law enforcement officials stated that illegal transactions involving unauthorized merchandise and regulated substances took place.

The inquiry began in March when an undercover operative purchased nearly $1,000 in apparel from Roynel Matos. Federal customs authorities and a brand representative subsequently verified that the items were unauthorized replicas. A similar purchase occurred in April, involving both Matos and Yeinys Rodriguez-Canizares, when undercover agents acquired footwear valued at $1,100 that was also confirmed to be counterfeit.

Key details in the case

The scope of the operation widened in May when undercover personnel bought testosterone for $300 through an arrangement involving Matos, Rodriguez-Canizares, and Yassel Darboys. According to arrest documentation, Rodriguez-Canizares facilitated the transaction by accepting the substance from Darboys, processing the payment, and depositing the cash into the business register. Laboratory testing later verified the substance as testosterone cypionate.

Financial records examined during the probe revealed that upwards of $815,000 in international wire transfers had been routed to banking institutions in Istanbul, Turkey. Rodriguez-Canizares faces multiple allegations, including racketeering, counterfeiting services or goods, and drug-related offenses. During a bond hearing, a judge established probable cause, setting the bond for Rodriguez-Canizares at $25,000 with a Nebbia requirement, while Matos received a $35,000 bond under the same conditions.
