LIBERTY CITY: Felon Arrested for Operating Illegal Butt Sculpting Clinic in Liberty City, Police Say

A 33-year-old felon operating under the alias "Dr. Lori" has been arrested after running an unlicensed body sculpting clinic in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood. According to police, Latonya Shanice Starks performed unauthorized cosmetic procedures that left multiple patients with scarring, severe pain, and abscesses. Investigators stated that one victim suffered a severe adverse reaction requiring months of medical treatments, which she believes ultimately led to a miscarriage.

Authorities began investigating Starks following complaints received in May and June regarding operations at Lori Dior Miami Med Spa, located at 5789 NW Seventh Ave. Detectives discovered that clients were injected with unapproved foreign substances, including a fat-dissolving product known as lemon bottle, rather than the expected dermal fillers. Victims reported paying hundreds of dollars for the procedures before experiencing painful lumps and enduring multiple corrective surgeries.

Key details in the case

Police arrested Starks following a traffic stop near her Aventura home, where officers recovered medical equipment, needles, and packaging labeled as Sculptra. Subsequent searches of her apartment yielded additional cosmetic supplies. Records indicate Starks was previously issued a cease-and-desist order in Georgia for similar operations and was on probation at the time of her arrest.

Starks now faces multiple charges, including practicing healthcare without a license causing serious injury and being a felon in possession of a firearm. She is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
