Miami reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, matching the highest temperature previously recorded in the city.
The only other time Miami reached 100°F was in July 1942, according to Local 10 meteorologists. Weather records in Miami date back to 1895.
Fort Lauderdale also experienced record heat, reaching 98°F and matching a record established in 2024.
Forecasters said thunderstorms are expected to return Wednesday and continue into the weekend, which should lower afternoon temperatures, although elevated humidity could keep heat-index values high.
